I’m surprised at how quickly we are working our way through the Gospels! Today we begin the Gospel according to Luke. Luke begins by telling us that he wrote this book to provide an orderly account concerning all the events surrounding the life of Jesus to a man named Theophilus. Evidently, and most assuredly, the life of Christ had shaken up the world and people were talking about him and teaching others about him. It should excite us to read about the events of Christ’s birth, because we know He was coming to save the world. Imagine the excitement!
I think sometime in our lives we forget just what Jesus has done for us. I think we forget what it was like before Christ came into our own life. Try to remember what it was like to be lost without the hope of eternal life, living in sin and being an enemy of God. As you remember back to those days, let the excitement of knowing that now Christ resides in you and you in him, through the work of the Holy Spirit motivate and compel you to give someone else that same opportunity you had to put their faith in Him. Tell someone about Jesus today!
I am loving reading though the gospels. One of the things I am seeing is the total stupidity of mankind in what God really has going on in the mist of us and we are blind to it! The disciples just didn’t get it so many times. But, Jesus just so patiently led them through every step and every moment of teaching as a parent does to a small child. Knowing that the child cannot contain all that the parent would like to teach. This does excite the parent that as the child starts to grow, there will opportunity after opportunity for teaching moments. Those moments may be painful and scarey and hard, but after the lesson is over the child gains confidence in who he is and begins to make the parent proud for better decisions and following good teaching. The women that followed Jesus in minstry seemed to get these lessons many times and seemed to recognize what his ministry was really about quicker than the disciples at times. The great reward is they got to see Him first after the resurrection. When are we going to seek God to teach us to see the real action around us! The supernatural action, the true ministry of God and let it permeate our life. Praise God for being patient with his children!
