becoming more Great Commission oriented

globeYesterday I was working on some of our mission projects and reality set in that we must not forsake the call to pray for each of these endeavors. The Lord’s desires are evident in Scripture, that He wants all nations to hear the gospel, and be saved! His desire is also evident that the people of God should be about praying for the nations!

As the body of Christ, begin praying faithfully for each of these projects, that God would be glorified, and that the gospel would be proclaimed clearly and effectively by Pine Street Baptist Church. Pray PSBC would be more of a Great Commission church!

Projects:

• Integrated Hispanic ministry at PSBC (multi-cultural church, here we come!)

• Adopt-a-street program (Sunday School classes have adopted streets to reach with the Gospel)

• Christmas Parade Chili giveaway (we will be handing out tracts downtown)

• Operation Christmas Child

• Medical Mission trip to Lima, Peru (for the purpose of sharing the gospel)

• East Asia trip (distributing radios in East Asia so the SN people can hear the gospel in their own language)

• Construction/ family mission trip during Spring Break

• Community Impact (visiting families that have visited our church)

As I read through Luke 4-5 today there were many things that struck me as things that were such spiritual food, but one in particular brought to mind that as the men were getting man lowered from the roof for Jesus to heal him applies so clearly to us or me. The very first thing we need to notice is there are many that we are going to have to go get and bring to Jesus. And it took more than one person to do it. It required work and absolute faith that Jesus would heal this man. They tore a man’s roof! That is determination. I believe they were more than willing to help fix the roof back and none more than the healed man. So what is it they we are willing to do to bring the broken, lost, diseased, possessed, hardened, and afflicted to Jesus? Are we willing to work? Are we willing to lay aside ourselves just for the cause of one soul? The devil needs and wants us to be too busy, separated, and unplanned. We have got to be assertive in bringing ones to Christ. He wants to heal and bring victory. We have to go and get them. Very few just fall down the aisle off the streets. Or at least I have not heard that testimony very many times. Wehn Jesus took the disciples back out to fish there were some things he taught them. One, we must go where the fish are. We must use the right kind of bait, and we must be patient and wait for the catch. We have to follow Jesus plan in catching men. The one thing Jesus tells them is to throw out your nets. Even though Peter argued, just like us, he recognized that if the Lord said cast, he better do it. It seems the Lord is telling Pine Street to cast out in many directions. Are we going to argue about it or just go ahead & follow instructions! I pray He finds us faithful! Soapbox over now! lol
